With its enviable location in the heart of Cropton Forest, Middlehead Cottages offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by open farmland, woodland and the stunning North York Moors. Each cottage has its own private hot tub, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day exploring.
The beautiful grounds are home to a variety of wildlife including deer, rabbits and several species of bats. Guests with a valid fishing licence are welcome to fish in the well-stocked lake, while everyone can enjoy watching the fish and exploring the tranquil surroundings. A bat detector is also available to borrow, allowing families to discover the fascinating wildlife around the cottages after dark.

There is a large feature fireplace with its wood burning stove, the solid oak floor boards and hand crafted beams and antique country furniture. The cottage can sleep up to 4 people over 2 bedrooms that can be made as either twin or super king bedrooms, both with en suite shower rooms. The cottage is perfect for both family and friends alike.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, both with super king-size beds that can also be configured as twin beds. Both bedrooms have spacious en-suite shower rooms and wall-mounted LCD TVs.
Downstairs, the cottage features a fully equipped country kitchen with a dining table and chairs comfortably seating four. The bright and welcoming lounge offers comfortable seating and an LCD TV/DVD player, while solid oak flooring and handcrafted beams add plenty of character throughout.
Willows End perfectly combines traditional country charm with modern comforts. Sleeping up to five guests, the cottage offers a private hot tub on an enclosed deck leading to its own fenced garden.
Inside, the spacious lounge features comfortable sofas, character beams, solid oak flooring, an LCD TV and DVD player, creating a cosy space to relax after a day exploring.
The country kitchen is equipped with a Rangemaster cooker, solid wood worktops and a dining table seating up to five guests.
Upstairs you’ll find two super king-size bedrooms that can each be arranged as twin beds, both with spacious en-suite shower rooms and wall-mounted LCD TVs. There is also a single bedroom and a family bathroom with a bath and shower over.
A beautiful detached cottage overlooking the gardens and woodland beyond, Middlehead Cottage offers a peaceful countryside escape for up to five guests. The private hot tub is tucked away to the side of the cottage, providing a secluded place to relax.
The cottage includes a well-equipped kitchen, dining room, comfortable lounge with a log burner, TV/DVD and sound system.
The cottage has a fenced front garden, access to the courtyard via the rear door and private parking for two cars.

Dalby Forest
Dalby Forest is the perfect family-friendly outdoor destination! Explore the forest on foot, bike or by swinging through the canopy on Go Ape Tree Top Adventure. There you’ll find a whopping 13 walking trails, including easy-access routes and play parks, perfect for families.Captain Barneys Soft Play, Malton
The cottages are in a forest location and while Wi-Fi is good (we did not experience any issues) signal may be intermittent.
Guests wishing to fish in the lake must hold a valid fishing licence.
There is access to the Forest via gates in the fence that run around part of the grounds
There is a large pond around 15 yards from the back of the cottages, 3 of the cottages have gated back gardens however the gates are low (3 foot)
Meadows Edge, Brock Forest and Willows End Cottages are accessed through the main conservatory and are in a terraced style. The front doors are inside the main conservatory which is a lovely communal space with a small DVD and book library, and seating areas.
In summer months midges may cause an issue due to the forest location. Taking insect repellent and/or citronella candles for the outdoor space is advised.
All Cottages are dog friendly, allowing up to 2 well behaved medium sized dogs at a surcharge of £25 per stay.
The bedrooms and bathrooms have thumb turner locks on the inside so children should not be left unattended in those rooms.
There is a wood burner in the cottages with fire lighters. The fire does not need to be used as the cottages have good central heating. The first basket of logs/kindling is provided free of charge.

Middlehead cottages operate a single tier pricing structure, so the prices do not change in peak times. There is a 2-night minimum stay in place for all cottages.
To secure a booking there is a deposit of £100 and full payment would be due 4 weeks before arrival. You can see full terms and conditions here
