Description

The ‘Stiddle’ taken from an old Cornish word describing a tethering chain found in old cow sheds, is a generous cottage ideal for families with 2 good sized, ensuite bedrooms as well as a separate cloakroom.

Located in the heart of Cornwall, it is the ultimate holiday base, also perfect for exploring the whole of the county

The double room has space for a cot which can be provided on request and the ensuite has a bath and overhead shower.

The second room has twin beds and has an en suite bathroom with shower. The cottage benefits from being single level with 2 steps up to the main bedroom

The cottage has an open plan living room and kitchen that is bright and open.

There is a log burner effect fireplace giving the cottage a cosy feel whatever the weather making this the perfect place to unwind and revel in the peaceful surroundings, An ideal location from which to explore the many activities Cornwall has to offer.

The stunning countryside is set off by the recent addition of a glorious lake, also it is great for a morning stroll or to relax by in the evening sun or simply enjoy the view while relaxing on the patio area and to enhance your visit to the Stiddle, our country trail offers the opportunity to explore the surroundings and also see nature up close and personal.

Things you may need to know.

We understand that some families may require additional safety and security features. Here you will find some helpful information about the security features of The Stiddle

  • Key locks on doors and windows with removable keys (see photos)
  • New fire regulations regarding external doors may mean that the holiday home Is not suitable for disabled people
  • No enclosed garden
  • The farmhouse s also a B&B so cars do drive around the cottage ground to access it
  • There is a large field opposite the cottages that belongs to the farm and is able to be used by guests and leads on from  the the gravelled carpark
  • Large manmade lake in the field opposite
  • Owners live on site and are freinldy and approachable and happy to help with any questions or requests.
  • Stair gates available
  • Nature trail that leads from cottages and leads around the grounds (see below for more information)

Our St Newlyn East Shop has been the home of L. George since 1912, continuing its traditional butcher service to this very day. We can cut to order and offer a wide range of produce. We offer great choice, whether you require roasting joints, sliced cuts, sausages or burgers. Using our own recipes, we can infuse meats with herbs, fruits or vegetables for a range of exciting tastes.

Pop down today to Crossways, your local Londis for a wide range of everyday essentials. This includes confectionery, beers, wine and spirits, top-up grocery items fresh produce and local products. With flexible opening hours, friendly independent retailers and great deals on big brand products, we have everything you need conveniently on your doorstep.

Trevilley Farm Shop, Lane TR8 4PX
We are a working family farm with on-site farm shop. In the shop, we make our own jams, marmalades, chutneys and pickles, as well as a wide variety of produce made on a daily basis. This includes bread, Cornish pasties (in some peoples’ opinions, the best you will ever have!), pies, quiches, sausage rolls, cake and much more! Aside from this, we sell produce from over 50 suppliers.

Asda Newquay 3.5 miles from the cottage and offer a delivery service direct to the farm (Oakleigh Terrace TR7 1RN)

Beaches
As a county Cornwall boasts the longest stretch of coastline in the UK with almost 435mi/700Km of stunning coastal scenery including more than 300 beaches. From the rugged North famous for it’s surfing and huge expanses of golden sand, to the more gentle South with hidden coves and tranquil creeks.

Treyarnon Beach 35 mins away –  Marine Conservation Society Good Beach Guide Recommended 2017 – Excellent water quality
A lovely clean, north-west facing, sandy beach surrounded by low cliffs and backed by sand dunes. This popular family beach offers an expanse of fine sand at low water with plenty of nooks to discover.  It is a short walk around the point from Constantine Bay to the north. This surf spot is popular from mid to high tide.
 

Fistral Beach 20 mins away  – Say the word Fistral to any avid surfer and you can guarantee their eyes will widen in awe
As one of the world’s top surfing destinations, backed by high cliffs and sand dunes, Fistral is the playground for hundreds of enthusiasts who flock to the beach to get a fix of the big waves. All the big UK surf competitions take place here including the Famous Night Surf, Boardmasters Surf Championships, National Surf Championships, the Groms plus many more… so if you’re a gung-ho pro or a just a timid beginner, this is the ideal place for you to show off or take your first tentative dip in the ocean.

Poly Joke Beach 19 mins away –  A small attractive cove, also known as Polly Joke, that is north-west facing and less busy than other beaches nearby.
The beach is a 15 minute walk from the nearest parking – there is a National Trust car park on Cubert Common or private pay & displays at West Pentire.
Porth Joke is excellent for rockpooling and has caves to explore. The beach is also suitable for swimming, bodyboarding, surfing and fishing.
Sheep graze in the dunes behind the beach so please keep dogs under control.

Before and During your Stay

We understand that preparing an autistic person for a holiday can be challenging. At spectrum holidays we are always looking for ways to make this process easier for our families. We have visited each of the holiday homes personally and have put together a social story for each one. Just let us know how we can best support you in your holiday preparation and we will create personalised visual countdown calendar or timetable for you!

Inside the holiday homes you will find a set of visuals to help support you while on holiday, there is also a “now, next, later” travel keyring to take out and about with you as well as some information about the local area.

We work closely with all of our holiday home owners so there will always be someone available to help should you have any problems during your holiday. Please contact Spectrum Holidays in the first instance with any queries or issues and if applicable we will contact the holiday home owner on your behalf. We can also provide information on the surrounding area, local amenities or visitor attractions

A 25% deposit is required to secure your chosen dates and full payment is due 4 weeks before arrival.

7 night minimum stay during Summer, 3 4 or 7 nights available at other times.
