These luxury log lodges are situated in a beautiful setting on the edge of the ancient Sherwood Forest, with all the space you need to relax and unwind, combined with stunning holiday accommodation that is finished to the highest of standards.

There’s no loud clubhouse here or live entertainment – just beautiful, luxury lodges in a stunning woodland setting.

Inside Sherwood Forest log lodges, you’ll discover design features influenced by our forest setting and with an added twist of luxury: sage green and tan tones and wood-effect wallpaper throughout; blinds and thick curtains so you can shut out the world and snuggle down at night; deep baths for an extended soak, and stylish wall prints and motifs to bring a cosy, rural feel.
Full height patio doors and windows let natural light flood into each room, and sumptuous beds and sofas provide the perfect excuse for long lie-ins and lazy evenings.

Kitchens are comprehensively kitted out so you can cook up your favourite meals to enjoy alongside a glass of wine.

Outside, there’s a decked terrace with seating and a private hot tub where you can bathe away the stresses of daily life.

Places to visit
There is so much to see and do nearby – we guarantee that you won’t get bored! Away from the woodlands and attractions, the region is also home to some rather picturesque destinations. Take a look at just some of our favourites nearby that are well worth a visit.

Southwell
The picturesque town of Southwell is best known for the beautiful and impressive Southwell Minster with its twin ‘pepper pot’ spires. The 900-hundred year old Norman Minster boasts Romanesque features and leaves visitors in awe.
Southwell is also home to the oldest and most complete Workhouse in existence today. Restored by the National Trust, the 19th century inhabitants are brought to life in the audio guide that is based on real archives surrounding the site.

Newark
The historic market town of Newark is renowned for its traditional beautifully cobbled marketplace. Newark market-days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays if you are after food and wares. Extensive antique and craft collections are available on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Newark offers plenty of choice for restaurants, cafes and shops, or visit the impressive 12th century castle and take a wander around the beautiful formal gardens.

Nottingham
Nottingham is a vibrant city and regarded as the regional capital for culture and shopping – and well worth a visit (especially if the weather isn’t being so kind). Home to some of the best shopping in the country, an exciting cultural calendar and recognised nationally for the quality of its restaurants and bars, this city has it all.
It’s easy to get around, with its compact city centre and, pedestrianised streets and tram system. Spend the day here and enjoy food and drink in the many award winning cafes, bars and restaurants.

Lincoln
A little further afield is the historic city of Lincoln. Here you can indulge in some serious retail therapy…or immerse yourself in the city’s rich history. A city split into two halves, the main shopping area is easily accessible, while the historic Cathedral Quarter is at the top of a steep, cobbled hill (which itself is lined with shops, cafes and restaurants – should you need nourishment on your journey).
Lincoln’s Brayford Waterfront is England’s oldest inland Harbour and offers a great selection of eating, drinking and entertainment venues. The city’s history can be traced back as far as 300BC and links to the city’s past heritage can be seen even today.

Nottingham Castle
Nottingham Castle is a spectacular building from the 17th century, which is set in the grounds of the original medieval castle built by William the Conqueror. There is a labyrinth of caves beneath its magnificent walls. The castle grounds hold a variety of events throughout the year, including an outdoor theatre season. There is also a museum charting the history of the Sherwood Forest Regiment and an art gallery boasting an extensive collection of silver, glass, paintings and decorative items.

Creswell Crags
Creswell Crags is a limestone gorge honeycombed with caves and smaller fissures. Stone tools and remains of animals found in the caves by archaeologists provide evidence for a fascinating story of life during the last Ice Age between 50,000 and 10,000 years ago. Further evidence came to light in 2003 with the discovery of Britain’s only known Ice Age rock art.
Please be aware that children under 5 years may not be permitted on cave tours for health and safety reasons.

Wollaton Hall
A visit to Wollaton Hall has to be on your list of things to do in Nottinghamshire. It is one of Britain’s most stunning Edwardian mansions and is set within 500 acres of breath-taking gardens and parkland. Within the grounds you can visit Nottingham’s Natural History Museum and the Industrial Museum.

The Harley Gallery
Situated less than 10 miles from Sherwood Forest, the Harley Gallery holds a variety of frequently changing exhibitions, while the permanent Treasury Gallery is home to fine and decorative arts from the Portland collection. Don’t miss the craft shop, which is filled with hand-made products such as silverware, delicate porcelain vases, exquisitely veneered wooden boxes and hand-stitched leather books – a diverse collection from both new and established artisans from all over the country.

National Justice Museum
The National Justice Museum in Nottingham uses original Courtrooms, dungeons and prison cells, along with a number of more contemporary galleries to exhibit collections relating to justice, the law, crime and punishment in a fun and interactive way. When visiting the museum you may also meet a variety of colourful historical characters with different stories of justice to tell.

Newark Castle
Newark Castle has stood proudly on the banks of the River Trent for nearly 900 years – with now only one and a half sides of the castle remaining which includes the oldest part of the castle, a large gatehouse. The castle was built in 1133 by Alexander, Bishop of Lincoln, and it remained a seat of the Bishops of Lincoln until 1547 when King Henry VIII took it for the Crown.
Open from 8:30AM – dusk. Entry to the castle grounds is free of charge.

White Post Farm
White Post Farm is set in 25 acres of land, with more than 3,000 animals including cows, pigs, sheep and hens as more unusual animals such as llamas, chinchillas, bats, reptiles and spiders. There are plenty of opportunities to get ‘hands on’ you can enjoy baby animal holding with mice, guinea pigs, chicks and ducklings. You can bottle-feed the goat kids and meet a reptile such as Annie the tarantula or Bob the leopard gecko.

Parks and Forests
The wider Sherwood Forest region is made up of a collection of individual parks and forests. Many of these a located just a short distance from The Sherwood Hideaway – so you can easily experience the best the local areas has to offer. Whether you prefer relaxing woodland strolls or adrenaline-fuelled activity, you’re sure to find something for you nearby.

Sherwood Forest
As you explore Sherwood Forest, there are many treats to discover. The best place to start is Sherwood Forest Country Park and Visitor Centre where there is an exhibition about Nottingham’s famous outlaw, Robin Hood. Two marked trails start from here and heads past The Major Oak, an ancient tree which is thought to be 1000 years old and was said to be a hiding place for Robin.

Sherwood Pines
This is the largest forest open to the public in the East Midlands with over 3,300 acres to discover. It’s a great place for outdoor activities and adventure and is home to the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure and much more. It is also a popular choice for cyclists and is a regional centre of excellence with a way-marked Family Trail, Adventure Trail and the more demanding Kitchener’s Trail. From here you can also pick up routes and links to the broader region, including Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve and Clumber Park.
Sherwood Pines is open daily from 8am to dusk, admission is free although there is a car parking charge of £1 for the fist hour or £4 for the full day.

Thoresby Park
Thoresby Park, just a short bike ride or walk away from The Sherwood Hideaway, is a lovely place to visit with a range of attractions for all of the family no matter how young or old. The extensive grounds cover over 1000 acres of rich unspoilt English countryside, with a range of facilities and attractions open to the public all year round.
At Thoresby Park enjoy the 2.5km signposted circular walk around the estate that takes in the sights and sounds of the estate including the lovely River Meden and St John’s Church in Perlethorpe.
Thoresby Park is open 7 days a week, from 9.00am to 5:30pm with the Thoresby Courtyard shops open from 10.30am to 4:00pm.

Clumber Park
The amazing scenery of Clumber Park includes the world’s longest double avenue of lime trees, 20 miles of cycle routes, a peaceful serpentine lake, the chapel of St Mary the Virgin, and a Victorian exotic-flower-filled pleasure ground. One of the park’s highlights is the walled kitchen garden that produces fresh seasonal ingredients for the park’s restaurant.

Rufford Abbey Country Park
Rufford Abbey is set amongst 150 acres of beautiful historic parkland, woodland and gardens, just a few miles from Sherwood Forest. The 12th century ruins of a medieval monastery provide the central focus of the park, alongside a contemporary craft centre, lake, woodland walks, a sculpture trail, children’s play village and a cafe and restaurant.
Entry is free (parking charges apply). Open year-round.

Your holiday starts as soon as you step through the doors of your luxury Lodge which is located on the the award winning Sherwood Hideaway holiday park. Relax in front of the cosy Log Burner Effect Fire and enjoy the free bottle of wine that is waiting for you on arrival.

You don’t even have to worry about standing and washing dishes after sitting down to a family meal as a dishwasher is also provided.

Enjoy the free Wi-Fi and take advantage of the iphone/MP3 dock that can be found inside the Lodge.

Outdoor Furniture is provided for you to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery around you, or why not enjoy some al fresco dining after cooking up a storm in the BBQ area.

We understand that preparing an autistic person for a holiday can be challenging. At spectrum holidays we are always looking for ways to make this process easier for our families. We have visited each of the holiday homes personally and have put together a social story for each one.
